  • Why is my internet slow?
If you suspect that your internet speed is not what it should be, you can do a speed test: 1) On a device plugged in at the router 2) On a wireless device in the same room as the router 3) On a wireless device in a room far from the router ⚡On the device connected to or near your router: Is your upload & download speed as fast as it should be? 💬 If so, your internet speed is fine! 📲 On the device in a room far from the router: Is your upload & download speed somewhat slower? 💬 If so, consider upgrading your home network. ✅ Remember to only perform a speed test on one device at a time! ☝️Remember that the more devices are connected to the router at one time (e.g. in the evening when everyone is home) - the less bandwidth each device will get. 🤓 The closer the device is to the router, the higher bandwidth it will get.
  • How do I change my WiFi password?
Unfortunately, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution that works for every router when resetting a Wi-Fi password, as different routers have varying interfaces and methods for configuration. However, here’s a general process that works for most popular routers: Log into your router: Open a browser and type your router’s IP address into the address bar (commonly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). Enter your admin username and password (usually found on the router label or in the user manual). Navigate to the Wireless settings: Look for a section called “Wireless,” “Wi-Fi,” or “Network” settings. Change your Wi-Fi password: Find the field for the “Wi-Fi password” or “WPA/WPA2 passphrase.” Enter your new password, ensuring it’s secure but easy to remember. Save changes and reconnect: Save the changes, and your router will apply the new password. You’ll need to reconnect all your devices using the new password. If you can't log in or have forgotten the router’s admin password, resetting the router by pressing the reset button on the back (usually with a pin) will restore it to factory settings, but you’ll need to set up your network again.
  • Network VS Internet Service Provider?
As your trusted ISP (Internet Service Provider), we bring the world-wide-web to your home or business 🌐 -> 🏡 More specifically, we bring the internet to your router 🛜 Your network consists of the devices that connect to your router (whether they are plugged in, or wirelessly connected). Most often, issues with internet speed have more to do with your network, than with the actual bandwidth your router is receiving from BethNet 😯 Contact us if you suspect a network problem at your home or business. We'll run a quick check and recommend a network expert if necessary. Follow us to learn more:

  • What are WiFi generations?
For years, understanding Wi-Fi generations was a daunting task. The complex naming scheme, consisting of codes like 802.11n, 802.11ac and 802.11ax, left many confused. Fortunately, the Wi-Fi Alliance intervened, introducing a straightforward numbering system in 2018. This change replaced technical codes with easy-to-understand version numbers. Today, in 2024, we have: Wi-Fi 5: The previous generation, formerly known as 802.11ac. Although introduced in 2014, it was renamed to Wi-Fi 5 in 2018. Wi-Fi 6: The current generation, previously referred to as 802.11ax. This updated naming convention has been widely adopted. The simplified system makes comparing Wi-Fi generations effortless. As technology advances, expect further numbered updates, ensuring easy understanding for users. To learn more about Wi-Fi 6, read our blog post:
